Does The Sun need to do this? They will make a lot of money out of this today. We don't need to read this, we know he killed them, we know the details, they've been in all the papers. But maybe the Sun's motives for taking part in this are cleaner than their readers; the paper wants to make money while the readers want to get their thrills.
It's a simple formula for The Sun, build up the devils and so its readers fears, keep those fears stoked and like a drug dealer keep feeding the habit. Paedophile Terror sells papers, lots of people like to get their prurient kicks from reading such stories and the weakest, most dispossessed, the most aimless love to feel they are better than somebody, they like to jump on their moral high horse and turf out a paediatrician from their house and afterwards go home and snuggle under the blanket of righteous anger. Looking at porn has a debasing effect, you get used to a lot of the ideas and images, this doesn't mean you necessarily get into harder stuff but it means there is an acceptance. And the Sun running this story heightens this acceptance. We know there are paedophiles and child-killers out there.
But we don't need to live in a climate of fear and kiddie porn like this.
