Molly Ivins 1944 - 2007

A fun journalist has died, she poked fun at the corrupt creeps we sometimes call polieticians

"There are two kinds of humour,"
she once told People magazine.
One was the kind
that makes us chuckle about our foibles and our shared humanity.
The other kind holds people up to public contempt and ridicule.
That's what I do.
Molly Ivins
Covering the Texas State legislature was her watershed.
"Whee, here we go, the lege is back in session!
And many a village is missing its idiot."

Taxi Driver Bollox

"This Congestion Charge is bollox. My wife has to pay the charge just to drive 400 yards to go to the shops."

Ooooooooooooh is it a Scrawny Eyed Cyclist?

maybe but we'll see

so maybe it wasn't a, but there are enough of them out there that it could have been

Petty Wanky Motorist
You've got global warming to get aerated about, the greatest crisis facing the planet. You could send letter bombs about that
You could get really pissed off about the war in Iraq and how Honest Tone lied about WMDs to get us in there to fight for US oil companies and send letter bombs about that
Or maybe you might want to protest about the whole premise of TWAT and send letter bombs about that
you know you could protest about something big, something important something that might be worth getting banged up for
but who the fuck is the petty wanker out there who is sending letter bombs to first Capita's offices, they run the congestion charge in London and today to a company in Wokingham who have something to do with speeding fines. What the fuck.
You might even be able to understand the various religious nutters out there willingly to kill for their religion, understand that they are deluded nutters but with their eyes on some sort of heaven, no doubt a sanctimonious, smug, very boring heaven. But to be sending letter bombs about the congestion charge and parking fines.
What a petty little fucker.

Oz Mugs

Perhaps some significant clues on those muggers.

Ah Diddums

Ah poor diddums, the poor little misunderstood rich boy is feeling a bit sad with his $80M recording contract. Stop whining and pull yourself together and errr when you're feeling weak and your pain walks downn a one way street (?) and you know you'll be blessed with love and then she'll breathe flesh on your bones Robbie and then when love's dead you'll love an angel instead. Err does that help Robbie?

Hurrah back on again on Tuesday. Fantastic program.

DI Sam Tyler: "You're an overweight, over-the-hill, nicotine-stained, borderline alcoholic homophobe with a superiority complex who has an unhealthy obsession with male bonding."

Zero Heroes, BMI to Die For

Just do the calculations

Ron Saxen, a male model, stands 6' 1" and weighs in at 175lb, 12.5 to you, qand says he was "mostly skin and bones" in the IoS. Run that through the BMI calculator and you get 19.42 which is in the healthy range. So is the BMI a totally dicky mechanism to judge weight? It says this guy was healthy but he doesn't sound it. The IoS article is about men getting worried about their weight and focusing on size zero. Can we just point the finger at the pimps and whores in the marketing and advertising industries. they've done a fucking good job at worried the fuck out of the ladies, so weight obsessed, make up obsessed they'll buy most anything in their weak moments.

Let's just remind ourselves of the default position of men, regardless of what you see in the mirror you are a Daniel Craigesque sex god, capable of pulling anybody, anywhere, anytime. We don't give a flying fuck about diet, units of alcohol a week or whatever a feminised world might what us to worry about. When I say feminized I use it in the sense of being neurotcally worried about anything the Marketers want you to worry about and consume. Sorry girls you're going to have to start your own fight back and learn to say fuck off and do what you want. And the young lads out there will have to stop buying skin care products, whatever the fuck they are and obsessing about their weight.

Now i know i might be biased my doctor says my weight is 250lbs, BMI 33 odd, that's obese but what the fuck it doesn't stop me playing football and cycling and stuff. but you know I think that doctor's scales are wrong, most doctors are wrong most of the time.

This is not to say you should be a couch potato, gwet off your fat arse and do some exercise but do it because you want to, but if you feel like saying fuck off, then say fuck off and raise two twix fingers to the worry-mongers.

Turn to Page 5

Ah That's Why I Left

From a friend's blog; it reminds why I left La Belle France (see Sunday's entry about Paris)

12 January

Nightmare in France

I went to declare my address change...

Of course a foreigner has to do this within 8 days having all paperwork to prove the new address (telephone, electricity etc..)--

it's a fucking nightmare to do and I spent the last three days making photocopies and preparing my file

So I go to the sous-préfecture - of course standing in the wrong welcome line...there is a special one just for foreigners.

I state my request, show my carte de séjour....and before I can even show any of the offical papers and their photocopies...
"NO !"

"i can't change my address?"

"NO! - YOUR CARD IS GOING TO EXPIRE !"

(let's not mention the fact that a carte de séjour always has an expiration date - it is valid only one year!)"

but i have an appointment at the Prefecture de Paris for the 6th of February and i need to show them my change of address"

"NO! - YOUR CARD IS GOING TO EXPIRE !"

"but i don't understand, i am here to declare my address change so that i can have the paper when i go to renew my card"

"NO! - YOUR CARD IS GOING TO EXPIRE !"

"yes i know that is why i need the address change to show the prefecture when i go on the 6th to renew"

"#&?!*#!!&#####&&!!***!!!#### NO !""#&*!!!&& les Indians et les Sir Lankins ###&!!**!!"

"NON!"

"NON!"

"NON!"

"NEXT"...

"Hello, Préfecture de Paris, i have a question - the sous-prefecture de L'Hay Les Roses won't let me change my address because my carte is going to expire... yes i have a appointment, yes... yes...

"...yes we know we have this problem often when someone moves out of Paris. When you go to the Préfecture use your old address.

"you mean to basically lie"..

yes. Otherwise the préfecture de Paris will not give you a new carte!

AAAAAAAARRRRRRRRRRGGGGGGGGGGGGHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH !!!

Back to photocoping...- so I haven't yet moved and you haven't yet seen any pictures of this !!!

If you're going to visit you'd better call ahead because i might not be where i am offically and if anyone asks, i'm a Parisienne.

Hey Dude 1984 What's That About?

You got to love these two on a web site talking about 1984 by George Orwell.

In my opinion, 1984 was an alright book. To be honest however, I did not get as involved with it as this book demands. I believe that all in all, if i were to actually read it in depth and analyze it better than I did, this book would have taught me a lot more. I recomend this book to people that do not have a clue what is going on around them and do not understand the complexity of the control that our government already has. I do advise however, that if you are thinking about reading this book, really think about it. Do not just read it to read it. Read it to understand and ponder about it. Granted, many parts of 1984 are boring and unmoving but, if you are a good reader and can get through it, I think that you can learn a lot from it. I also think that it is amazing that Orwell could write about the issues that he does in 1948. I do not understand how he could possibly have all of these warped ideas about the future society and have them all be true.

and

I personally dont really understand this book!!:flare: But i did catch on to room 101 it was pretty torturous...what i dont get is why o'brien is doing this to winston?? i got really confused toward this part of the book!! i do know that the torture was so horrid that he wanted them to take in julia instead the pain was so unbearable!!... i just dont get why!! Could you please help me thanks

Woman Dies in a Florida Hotel Room

A woman who once shagged an old man has died in a Florida hotel room. She will be much missed by her friends in the media. A close friend and playboy Huge Flaccider says,

"She was beautiful! She was young, she was innocent! She was the greatest piece of ass I've ever had, and I've had 'em all over the world!"

Marilyn Monroe says check for a barbiturate enema.

Moving the Deckchairs

if you think

about these dead souls that are gorging themselves at the trough too much then surely you will become the living dead too; they intone the mantras of consumption and obedience, deafening us with a wall of statistics, lauding freedom while stealing it away piece by piece. So in these times we have to think of the beautiful things in this world and protect them

thanks and play this

on a bit of a Paris jag this afternoon.

Paris is one of those beautiful women that you love with all your heart but you can never live with her because she maddens you so much. I left France because of the stultifying beauracracy, and now they're trying to introduce papiers here. But aside from the annoying cartesian frame of mind, the pharonic heaviness of the state living in Paris everyday was different, every day had a magic to them. It was a joy to wander through Paris. I love the film Amelie, that film pretty much sums up my 8 years in the city. Magic, beauty, love and destiny and the bizarre. This blog has loads of pictures of Paris and I walked past this sculpture pretty regularly. So be careful of words!
